Dallas Diary
Hey guys,
So I'm gearing up for my upcoming trip to Mexico this weekend but before I do that I wanted to tell you guys about my Dallas trip well I guess it should be titled "Texas Diaries" as I spent most of my time there in the suburban neighborhoods. So about two weeks ago I visited Dallas for the first time, it was actually my first time in Texas ever so I was pretty excited.
I haven't seen one of my friends in a few years because of distance as well as a newer friend that already lives in Dallas and we're all big fans of Taylor Swift so it just made the anticipation of the trip more much exciting.
Where To Stay:
My friend and I looked up different neighborhoods in the Dallas area that was convenient to the AT&T Stadium and the airport after days of research and comparing addresses we decided on staying in Colleyville a suburb about 25 minutes outside of Downtown Dallas, only 12-14 minute Airport ride from DFW and 20 minute ride to the AT&T stadium. This seemed to be the most reasonable in terms of distance, cost and convenience since we would be Uber'ing everywhere.
Things To Do:
Botanical gardens
My friend and I visited
this is a smaller one located in Grapevine,Texas only about a 10 minute drive from Colleyville, this is more suited for families with children we actually wanted to visit the one in Dallas but time didn't permit it.
Dallas State Fair
I've never been to a state fair before and the LA Sate Fair had recently ended so my timing going to Dallas was perfect.
has plenty of rides, food, drinks and music. Be prepared to spend at least $100 if you want to eat and drink at the fair.
Shopping
Since I'm a light packer I always try to find time on my trips to do a little shopping, while in Dallas I went to the
this mall offers high and lower ends stores, as well as plenty of places to hangout and eat.
Where To Eat:
The foodie in me craves authentic food, whenever I visit a new city or country I like to eat where the locals at.I was looking for a nice southern styled breakfast and stumbled upon
they have several locations but I went to the Grapevine location. The place definitely has western vibes all around with
cowboy dressed employees
and country themed murals across the whole place- it's got that Texas charm.
How can you visit Texas but not have BBQ or Brisket? I stopped by
to satisfy my country cravings. They have a huge selection of southern style food ranging from Mac and cheese to baked beans and hot links, many of these items I haven’t tried since I was a kid. The owner was so pleasant and friendly I definitely recommend you check them out they’re located in Colleyville, Texas.
So the East coast has Shake Shack, us West Coasters have InNOut Burger but the south has
. I have to say What a Burger is definitely giving the other fast food burger joints a run for their money.
I tried a few spots in Dallas but customers service wasn’t the best so I won’t be recommending them.
This was a quick trip for me so I didn’t do any partying or going to any bars so I can’t recommend any of that.
I definitely recommend bringing insect repellent as I was bitten up by so many mosquitoes.
That last day my friends and I went to the Taylor Swift concert which was simply amazing!!!
